C. Brown Edwards, Jr.

Brown Edwards is a tax attorney and owner of his law practice.  Mr. Edwards also serves as an adjunct professor at Mercer University School of Law where he teaches Estate Planning.  Prior to going out on his own, he was a taxation partner in the Business Section at Martin Snow, LLP.  He has extensive experience in estate planning and probate and administration of estates and trusts.  In addition, he has extensive experience in most all services needed by businesses including the formation, organization, and sale of business entities such as C-Corporations, S-Corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and limited partnerships, taxation, securities law, mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate, ERISA, employee benefits, contracts and commercial lending.  Mr. Edwards’ primary client concentration is representation of various business entities and estate planning.  Clients include businesses, individuals, trust departments, telecommunications companies (including wireless and internet), professionals, timber investors, investment brokers and financial planners.

Since 1989 Mr. Edwards has served as general counsel for many local and state businesses.  He has been a speaker at several state and local seminars, has conducted estate planning seminars and business planning seminars and has written for Mercer Law Review.

Mr. Edwards is a 1979 graduate of the University of Georgia and a 1988 graduate with a J.D. Degree from Mercer University School of Law; and has received a Master of Law (L.L.M.) in Taxation in 1989 from New York University.   He is admitted to practice law in the State of Georgia and is a member of the Macon Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia. 

He has been involved in numerous charitable endeavors including serving in the following capacities:  10 years on the Board of Directors of The Children’s Hospital of the Medical Center of Central Georgia, having served as Vice Chairman in 1995; Board Director of the Ronald McDonald House of Middle Georgia, Inc., serving as Treasurer, Vice President and President from 2003 to 2008; President and Director of Taylor-Stevens Foundation, Inc. since 1992; Director of Zarks Family Foundation, Inc., a past Board member of the Boy Scouts of Middle Georgia, a member of Macon Civic Club; Past President of the Estate Planning Council; a member of the Shield Club and an alumnus of Leadership Macon.

Mr. Edwards is a member of Idle Hour Country Club and Christ Church.  His hobbies include golf, fishing, tennis, and hunting.
